Background
ALT-X, Ltd. was incorporated on March 27, 1992.
The first couple of years ALT-X was engaged in graphic design, provision of legal services, and software development. It was the latter line of the Company’s activities, which served as basis for the Company’s name (in most of the then existing computer programs, a combination of keys ALT-X meant “exit”). The ALT-X’s first customers for software development were Nevskoye Vremia newspaper and Leningrad State Historical Museum. Thereafter, ALT-X became an exclusive advertising agency of St. Petersburg’s first free newspaper Privet,Petersburg.
In 1993, construction materials deficiency in quickly developing Russian market resulted in a decision to engage in this business area.
In early years ALT-X was actively opening branches in other Russian cities and regions. Branches were opened in Mcensk, Cherepovets, Novgorod, and Yaroslavl. Later on they became independent companies. Some of them still have strong relationship and good business cooperation with ALT-X.
In 1997 ALT-X’s warehouse moved to 10 Sedova St., and two years later head office moved there as well.
Our partners
Over years, ALT-X has built strong and stable partnership with Akzo Nobel and its affiliated company ES Sadolin AS. Akzo Nobel, with its head office in Arnhem, the Netherlands, has operations in more than 50 countries worldwide, with over 70 thousand people employed with their companies. Akzo Nobel is a leader in the world market of polymeric catalysts, paints, oil processing, etc.
Major business
The main line of ALT-X’s business is wholesale and marketing of construction and decoration materials (basically paint and varnish products), and also retail sales through the Company stores. ALT-X works closely in direct cooperation with manufacturers, which ensures low prices for our customers and high quality of service.
Trademarks
ALT-X is an official representative of Akzo Nobel (trademarks Sadolin, Dulux, Pinotex, Marshall, Hammerite, Casco, Synteko, Schonox) and Varnamo AB and AS Makroflex.
Our customers
Today we are supplying products to most of Russian regions, and we are one of the largest suppliers of paint and varnish materials in Russian North-West Region.
Company retail chains
The Company retail chains constitute one of the new development lines of ALT-X.
The chain incorporates three stores in various St. Petersburg’s districts. These stores were conceived in an absolutely new form for Russia – construction boutique.
Wide product line, high quality and proficient skilled personnel have ensured successful development of this line. Sales assistants have attended in-service training in conventional technologies and construction market novelties on a regular basis, instructed and trained by leading Akzo Nobel professionals.
As additional service, Company provides paint and varnish blending services. In our Company stores, most up-to-date equipment has been installed. Using this equipment, practically any varnish or paint can be tinted in whatsoever manner. Tintorama, latest generation computer-aided blending machine, provides for highest speed and color precision.
